DIPLOMATIC VISA
   

Diplomatic Visas are given to foreign citizens bearing diplomatic passports, for the conduct of diplomatic assignments in Indonesia.

Requests for Diplomatic Visas must be submitted through an Indonesian diplomatic mission abroad, by filling out the appropriate application forms and enclosing:

Complete proof of identity of the passport bearer.
One 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm colour passport photographs of the passport bearer, attached to the form.
The original diplomatic passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
A diplomatic note from related Australian agencies confirming the person's diplomatic assignment. For other nationals, a similar diplomatic note from the Embassy/Consulates.

SERVICE VISA
   

Service Visas are given to foreign citizens bearing service passports / Laissez Passer (UN Passport), on assignment to Indonesia for non-diplomatic purposes. Service Visa is only for single entry.

Requests for Service Visas must be submitted through an Indonesian diplomatic mission abroad, by filling out the appropriate registration forms and enclosing:

Complete proof of identity of the passport bearer.
One 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm colour passport photographs of the passport bearer.
The original passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
A diplomatic note from related Australian agencies confirming the person's non-diplomatic assignment. For other nationals, a similar diplomatic note from the Embassy/Consulates.

TOURIST VISA
   

Maximum length of stay in Indonesia is 60 days. Requests for Tourist Visas are submitted to the Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne by filling out the appropriate forms (1 copies for each person) and enclosing:

Passport still valid at least 6 months from the date of submission).
One 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm colour Passport photographs.
Letter of Employment, indicating the employment status of applicant. For retiree, please submit proof of the retirement fund.
Letter of recommendation from a sponsor in Indonesia (if necessary).
Marriage Certificate or Letter of Employment (if necessary).
Proof of permanent residence for non-Australian Citizen (stay permits/student visa). Please be advised that applicant with no proof of PR/Student Visa would be suggested to obtain Indonesian visa from country of origin/country of residency.
Proof of a ticket in and out Indonesia, or a ticket to continue travel to another country.
Evidence of sufficient funds to maintain himself/herself during his/her stay in Indonesia (e.g. recent Bank Statements or Credit Card).
Note:
Tourist Visa only for single entry. The tourist visa holder should not enter the restricted regions (Aceh, Papua and Maluku).
Visa is issued min 5 (five) working days from receipt of application. However, citizens from certain countries may have a longer time upon the approval from Indonesia Immigration Office in Indonesia.
Visa Fee Aus $ 60 may be paid only by Money Order, Company Cheque or Bank Cheque payable to Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne.
For Visa application by mail, please read carefully:
Visa application by mail should enclose a self stamped and addressed envelope for Express Mail, DHL or any other service that the applicant deems safe. The Consulates would not be held responsible for application that lost through mail. So make sure you chose the most secure service.
Before you mail the application, please remember that the application must be send along with the applicant's passport. Consulate General would attach the visa in the passport. No passport, no visa.
Also remember that amendment and endorsement pages cannot be used for visa purposes. Check your passport for a blank visa page. Please be advised that we will return your application and passport if we found there are no blank visa pages on the passport. This would delay your application processing. Please remember to address the envelope to:

BUSINESS VISA
   

Maximum length of stay in Indonesia is 60 days. Requests for Business Visas are submitted to the Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne by filling out the appropriate forms (1 copies for each person) and enclosing:

Passport (still valid at least 6 months from the date of submission) for single entry, and 18 months for multiple entries.
One 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm colour Passport photographs.
Letter of recommendation from a sponsor in Indonesia.
Letter of Employment & letter of recommendation from the applicants firms in Australia (stating the duration and the purpose of the Visit as well as responsibility of accommodation/maintenance costs).
Proof of permanent residence for non-Australian Citizen (stay permits). Please be advised that applicant with no proof of PR would be suggested to obtain Indonesian visa from country of origin/country of residency.
Proof of a ticket in and out Indonesia, or a ticket to continue travel to another country.
Note:
This visa is given by the Indonesian Consulate to applicants visiting Indonesia for normal business activities.
To participate in conference/seminar a letter/invitation from the conference host setting out details, including nature, duration and programme of the conference/seminar.
The applicant who wishes to enter the restricted regions (Aceh, Papua, Maluku) must obtain special authorization from Indonesian authorities. Please advised Consulate General about the intention to visit the restricted regions. This rule also applies to those who previously work at the regions and hold immigration permission, e.g. Freeport employees.
Visa is issued min 5 (five) working days from receipt of application providing all documents are in order. For visiting restricted regions need more than five working days or after receiving approval from the Immigration Authorities.
Visa Fee for single entry AUS$60.00 and multiple entry AUS$165.00.

SOCIAL CULTURAL VISA
   

Maximum length of stay in Indonesia is 60 days (extension available). Requests for Social Cultural Visas are submitted to the Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne by filling out the appropriate forms (1 copies for each person) and enclosing:

Passport (still valid at least 6 months from the date of submission).
One 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm colour Passport photographs
Proof of a ticket in and out Indonesia, or a ticket to continue travel to another country.
Proof of permanent residence for non-Australian Citizen (stay permits). Please be advised that applicant with no proof of PR would be suggested to obtain Indonesian visa from country of origin/country of residency.
Letter of invitation from family or social organization, which describes the purpose of the visit and guaranteeing all transportation and living expenses that will incur in Indonesia.
Note:
For family visit, includes either: (1) a copy of KIMS/KITAS (Indonesian immigration's temporary stay permit) of the principal/person who is a non-Indonesian citizen that sponsoring your visit, or , (2) if your sponsor is an Indonesian citizen, a copy of the KTP (Indonesian ID card). Please be advised that foreigner who doesn't have KIMS/KITAS could not sponsor a family visit.
The applicant who wishes to enter the restricted regions (Aceh, Papua, Maluku) must obtain special authorization from Indonesian authorities. Please advised the Consulate General about the intention to visit the restricted regions. This rule also applies to those who previously work at the regions and hold immigration permission, e.g. religious worker, Freeport employees. For a member of a family who wishes to join their family in such region, the rule is also applied to you. LIMITED STAY VISA
   

Limited Stay Visas are given to Regular Passport holders, valid for a 1 (one) year stay in Indonesia and must not exceed the validity period of his/her Passport. Applications for Limited Stay Visas are subject for approval from the Directorate General of Immigration office in Jakarta .

Limited Stay Visas are given for the purpose of : Foreign Investment, Employment in a Government/Private sector, Education, Training or Research, Religious duties, Joining Husband and or a Parent who is a foreign national in possession of a Limited Stay Permit or who is an Indonesian citizen, for the wife and / or single, legitimate child(ren) who is/are under 18 years of age.
Requests for Limited Stay Visas must be submitted to the Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne by filling out the appropriate forms (2 copies for each person) and enclosing :
Approval letter from The Indonesian Immigration Office.
Passport must be valid at least 18 months at the date of entry into Indonesia.
A letter of intent from employer or sponsor, which describes the purpose of the visit and guaranteeing all transportation and living expenses that will incur in Indonesia.
Application form (in duplicate) must be completed and signed by the applicant. The application form could be downloaded from the website.
Two recent colour photographs (passport size or 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) on picture-quality paper.
Applicant's curriculum vitae in triplicate.
Police certificate of good conduct in triplicate.
Work agreement/contract in triplicate.
Employee's certificate in triplicate.
Copies of marriage certificate and birth certificate of accompanying family member (spouse/children) in triplicate.
Certificate of vaccination (including HIV/Hepatitis A/B) in triplicate.
Visa application by mail should enclose a self stamped and addressed envelope for Express Mail or Fed Ex/DHL.
For those conducting activities in religious, research, education, or social mission, must enclose the original and a copy of a letter of recommendation from the institution or specific department/division that has assigned them.
For those who wish to work in a foreign investment or domestic investment venture, or as a technical professional on assignment by a foreign aid organizations, must furnish a letter of recommendation from a technical department in Indonesia, the Indonesian Department of Labour, the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board, and a copy of the letter of agreement to employ foreign labour.
Please Note:
The limited stay visa is always a single entry . What if the visa holder supposed to exit and re-enter Indonesia many times? After the holder of such visa arrived in Indonesia , they should contact the nearest immigration office to apply for the temporary stay permit (KIMS/KITAS) and also to apply for an exit and entry permit if they plan to travel abroad and wish to re-enter Indonesia . Usually the sponsor in Indonesia has arranged all necessary permit and knew how to proceed to obtain KIMS/KITAS and re-entry permit from the local immigration.
Indonesian Consulate General must have the authorization from the Indonesian Immigration before a limited stay visa could be issued. If you want to apply for the limited stay visa, please contact your sponsor in Indonesia to apply it through the nearest immigration office. If granted, the immigration would send official notification to the Consulate General.
The Indonesian Consulate General would not issue a limited stay visa without official notification or approval from the Indonesian immigration.
Please be advised also to obtain permission if you wish to enter/stay at the restricted regions (Aceh, Maluku, Irian Jaya) from appropriate authorities, including immigration.

TRANSIT VISA
   

This visa is given to persons continuing their journey to another country within a reasonable time provided they hold valid and confirmed tickets / document to travel to their next destination. A transit visa is also required by persons joining or working on a transport vehicle that will continue its journey putside Indonesian territory. Applicants in this category mush have proof of a work contract pertaining to that effect.

Validity of visa will be three months from the date issue and the maximum length of stay is 3 (three) days/72 hours from the date of arrival in Indonesia.
Request for a Transit Visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration form (2 copies for each person) and enclosing:
Passport must be valid at least 6 months from the date of entry into Indonesia
One completed visa application form
One coloured passport size photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm)
Proof of work contract/ a letter of recommendation from the applicant's firm in Australia and its counterpart in Indonesia (See Limited Stay Visa requirement point 3)
Valid and confirmed tickets and other documents to travel to the applicant's next destination
Evidence of sufficient funds to maintain oneself whilst staying in Indonesia (e.g. a recent Bank Statement, etc)

JOURNALIST or FILM/VIDEO/PHOTO SHOOTING VISA
   

Journalist visits or film/video/photo shooting in Indonesia may be carried out after an approval from the authorities concerned has been obtained.

For approval and visa, the following must be submitted to the Information Division of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia:
A letter of recommendation from the company;
Summary / profile of the company;
Curriculum Vitae;
Completed Visa application forms (two copies for each applicant) with original signature of the applicant, typed or written in black capital letters;
A synopsis or proposal of the film or photo project with details such as timetable, locations and duration of stay; (enclosed, for filming purposes only).
A signed statement for film/video shooting; (enclosed, for filming purposes only).
Three recent passport-size photograps; Two of them must be attached on the Visa Application Forms; (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm)
A signed statement of the list of equipment which will be re-exported to Australia;
A clear photocopy of passport (main details only);
Following the approval from the authorities in Indonesia , we will advise you to bring the passport to the Consulate to be stamped with the necessary Visa which will be ready to collect within five working days.
Please note that decision of the approval by the authorities in Indonesia will take approximately four weeks after receipt of the completed aforementioned requirements.

SHORT VISIT VISA ISSUED ON ARRIVAL
   

(As from 3rd May 2006)

In conjunction with the new visa policy, the Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Rights has issued and signed a new decree no. M-06.IZ.01.10/2006, effective from 6th June 2006. Note :
Starting from 26th June 2006, the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration has changed the short visit Tourist Visa Issued on Arrival into the new classification of visa. These can not be extended.

VISA-FREE SHORT TERM VISIT (BVKS)
   

In conjunction with the Presidential Decision No. 103/2003, signed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on 17th December 2003 regarding the new visa policy, from the 1st February 2004, the following countries do not require a visa to enter Indonesia for a Tourist visit up to 30 (thirty) days:

Citizens of these 11 countries must always have a valid Passport (still valid for at least 6 months) and onward /return tickets. Those 11 countries are as follows:

Pursuant to Decree from Department of Foreign Affairs in Indonesia No. 0801434, hereby we announce that citizens whom countries listed as follow:
